Perhaps it is misnamed, and should be thought of the crime of self-incrimination. From high spots on the hacienda you can hear the Mama church bells when the wind is right. Tekit is the closest pueblo by road.<br /><br />I've been to festivals in Mama, when the church and its yard is decorated with flags, with the processions, and the exploding voladores. Not to mention lots of good food and beer. It's a fun place to visit. I stayed a week in Ticul some years back, used it for a base to explore that area. The big door on the church in Mama was the highlight of that trip. I have a thing for the door within the door idea of closing in space. The kids were singing in the front and a man who had never had a pair of shoes on his feet gave me the "tour".
